THE BORDER REPORT

4:27 p.m. update:

I’m getting some new information on this case; it’s … interesting … Stay tuned for an update.

According to the people who know, this is what happened:

The suspect tried to run over a U.S. Border Patrol agent somewhere around Double Adobe Road and Highway 191, about 6 miles north of Highway 80. This all went down about 10 a.m.

Apparently he was not successful and the Border Patrol agent opened fire, wounding the driver. The driver has been medevaced to Tucson for his gunshot wounds.

That marks the second time in a week that someone’s tried to run over a Border Patrol agent.

Last Saturday, Border Patrol agent Luis Aguilar was killed when a man driving a Hummer the agents were chasing ran him over. Aguilar was trying to put out a spike strip to stop the Hummer and the Ford F250, near Yuma.

The suspect in that murder was arrested by Sonoran state police Tuesday. Jesus Navarro Montes is in the custody of the Federal Attorney General’s Office in Mexicali.

Here’s a couple photos of Navarro when he was popped. (Courtesy: Policia Estatal Preventiva, Hermosillo office)

  1. When the illegal alien suspect gets out of the Tucson hospital, Bush and Cheney want to give him immunity, and a border pass so that he can testify against the Border Patrol Agent who shot him.
Shame on that Border Patrol Agent for shooting that illegal alien. I guess he didn’t remember what happened to Ramos and Campean!

Misplaced sarcasm? Why don’t you put a paragraph of your thoughts/opinions on this reply link instead of just a four word shot at my thoughts?

  4. Richard,

Well … perhaps because I was not able to read into the post what you were.

The post is a news item from which I was not able to project that the person in the hospital would get immunity plus a border pass and come back to haunt the Border Patrol Agent in court for defending his own life (the agent’s that is).

But then I may have skipped over that part …

    Cheers,
    Gail

I guess you are not yet a jaded Lou Dobbs watcher like I am.
Are you not starting to see a pattern here?

  7. Hey Michael: Gail and I are having an exchange of ideas/opinions/discussions here on your open forum. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
Included in this open forum is the opportunity to vent. I don’t/won’t use any profanity as other repliers have.
Thank you for creating this site.

  8. That’s fine. but since you have so much energy this morning, why don’t you help me determine which US state has the highest murder rate?

  9. That was a fight? Sorry I missed it …

  10. Oh and, uh, Michael, I have trouble getting to posts once they roll off the main page. There doesn’t seem to be any button to previous posts other than going through contortions with the archives.
