THE BORDER REPORT

One rumor I’m hearing today is that U.S. Marines were present with the Mexican Navy last night during the gunbattle with Arturo Beltrán Leyva.

It may or may not be true. I have it tertiary from sources within the Sinaloa factions working here in the U.S. that I talk to from time to time. And of course, every time a significant arrest or killing is conducted in Mexico, there is a healthy suspicion that Americans were somehow involved. This of course, isn’t helped by the fact that American federal agents have been spotted at some murder scenes, standing alongside their Mexican counterparts.

The use of Mexican naval forces instead of the vaunted Army or federal police forces is alone, very interesting.

Last week, the SIEDO raided several banks throughout Sinaloa, one belonging to the Mexican Army; Banjercito. The bank was specifically established in 1947 to provide banking and credit services to Mexico’s armed forces. SIEDO discovered a network of accounts between El Mayo Ismael Zambada García and members of the Mexican Armed Forces. At a Banamex bank, they discovered one account belonging to Jose Maria Encines Elenes, an Army official appointed by Pres. Vicente Fox in 2001.

It gets a little better. An old intelligence report from last May led to this current bank investigation. In the May case, SIEDO arrested Roberto Beltrán Burgos, El Doctor. Beltrán Burgos had taken the role of intelligence gathering in Sinaloa on behalf of Joaquín Chapo Guzmán (Alfredo Mochomo Beltrán had the job before him, before the 2008 split). He’d been working with Vicente Zambada Niebla, captured last March.

Of course, SIEDO has its own credibility issues. In 2008, the elite agency of federal investigators had been found to be taking $450,000 monthly payments directly from Arturo Beltrán Leyva. The agency was in danger of being dismantled before the plane crash in October of that year that killed José Luis Santiago Vasconcelos, the man who started SIEDO for the Fox Administration. After he died, the investigation into SIEDO seemed to just … go away. For certain, no SIEDO official was ever publicly arrested.

Lots of names, lots of chismes. Lots of ties. You have SIEDO whose members have worked for the Beltrán Leyvas investigating SEDENA whose members worked for Chapo Guzmán and Mayo Zambada. It’s small wonder the Navy got involved. That of course, is assuming the Navy doesn’t have its own interests in all this.

And, por su caso, the U.S. Marines.

  2. perhaps that was his undoing also for ABL, his people/seido leaked a document of mayo hooking up the mexican army and that would of led to corruption to higher government officials henced why they had to take him out do to him knowing what was going on and they decided to take him out before more revalations were made’ you kill that story and it winds down to no one caring after a big boss like him goes down it just overshadows the story

    [Reply]

  3. so, it looks like the rumors were true, if so, damn i can’t even picture what could happen!, shit!

    [Reply]

  4. That’s just too conspiriacy-ish that US Marines were there. Maybe some state dept guys showed up after the fact, but taking place in the gunfight, come on.

    [Reply]

  5. Marines, CIA, U.S. cops? What difference does it make? After the fact? I will continue to just bight my tongue!

    [Reply]

  6. Yes, after the fact, as in after he was killed, like to confirm that it is him, and it’s “bite”.

    [Reply]

  7. And I will continue to “bite.”

    [Reply]

  8. The drug war itself is a real conspiracy. You can believe that the U.S. had their hands in this whole opperation. They did not need to confirm anything after the fact. They new good and well who they were murdering.

  9. “Operation” and “knew” I thought we were biting our tounge…

  10. Lol!

    [Reply]

  11. this is just to funny how people think nothing can get done without the “americans”.

    [Reply]

  12. Its even more funny when people comment on things they know nothing about. the merida aid package from the “Americans” to mexico to fight the drug cartels, consists of money. Equipment, AND TRAINING FROM THE “AMERICANS.” So why is it so hard to believe the “americans” are involved in the areest or murder of a cartel boss.

    [Reply]

  13. now, if only the americans knew that the merida plan is helping out chapo to get rid of his enemies, thank you Felipillo.

    [Reply]

  14. This is great! The Americans are paying Mexico to get rid of El Chapo’s enemies! Lol!! It is so true. Though.

    [Reply]

  15. Whever wrote nuber 13, that is a great point.

    [Reply]

  16. Numbr 12, too! Good point!

    [Reply]

  17. The merida package is a billion dolar aid package that is mostly about the americans being more involved. Rof. You should really keep to yourself. No your facts before ignorance shows.

    [Reply]

  18. Any Presindent in Mexico that lets Amerecian soldiers carry out operations in Mexico is committing political suicide. Look the Marina, or Mexican Marines, are trained pretty fooking good. Kind of how Marines in the US military are a cut above the regular Army troops. The American and Mexican Marines have always done cross training. They do not any outside help to take out El barbas. Besides aren’t US Marines too busy with Afghanistan?

    [Reply]

  19. Bingo “move”!!! US has more shit on it’s plate of importance than Mexico. Sorry, but it’s true.

    [Reply]

  20. i get a trip on how these media outlets say ABL had a reign of terror throughout Mexico and this and that and blah blah blah, but not once do they mention how it is chapo’s people who are causing this because he wants the whole pie to himself, and the US does need to intervene due to Mexico being so close to us, it’s basically a narco state over there. I remember $20 used to get me out of a jam with the cops in Juarez but on thanksgiving day I had to pay up $50 and I started to realize these guys are getting greedy but in the same time I was holding like $750 and in my truck!… maybe i had it coming to me… LOL

    [Reply]

  21. You guys are right. However, if in the process of training, people from our government were there. Not after the fact either. That should not be a surprise. And the president may have comitted political suicide already. Some of the mixican people hold the president responsible for the violence and turmoil. You would think that the middle east is important. But the training, equipment and money going to Mexico from the U.S. is significant. Washington has spent a fortune on homeland security. They consider what’s going on in Mexico a threat to national security. There is an overwhelming U.S. presence in Mexico right now. So being in denial of american involvement is sort of off balance.

    [Reply]

  22. throwing money at a problem is different than direct involvment i believe. the question in point in the article was if there were U.S. marines at the raid that killed “el barbas”, not whether the U.S. gives federal money or provides tactical and logistic training to the Mexican army and Mexican marines.

    [Reply]

  23. i believe that if there were gringos in cuernavaca in that operation, they were there as advisors, not as shooters.

    [Reply]

  24. That’s true, but you said it was funny how people think nothing can get done without american help. But that is exactly what the president of mexico has asked for fom the americans. And the americans consider the cartel problem a threat to national security. Without disagreement, US involvement could have been, and probably was, a factor.

    [Reply]

  25. Probably correct.

    [Reply]

  26. The Associated Press is reporting that Mexican Marines were acting on information given to them by U.S. intel to take down ABL. I don’t know guys, looks like the U.S, had their hand in this one, They were on the ground there. “The Gringos” were corridinating this attack.

    [Reply]

  27. You got your info wrong Chris, the intel the Marines got from was from they guys they beat to shit in the earlier party with Ramon Ayala. Look Chris Banano from your comments its easy to see you are knew to the Mexican Cartels world. For one US agents have been in Mexico since the 80s, look up Kiki Camarena, and those US agents are always in the company of Mexicans to watch their every move. US agents being in Mexico is a way the Mexican government appeases the US from scaming them for more money for their military and police forces. El Chapo is known to ride in those very same government helicopters the US gives to Mexico. There is no way some token US liaison was coordinating the attack. With their bullshit just for show job they were there just to see some action.

I know you want to believe what the head of DEA inteligence in Mexico tells you, but know that his job is just for show and nothing more. And that guy likes to justify his government pay.

I’m pretty sure the DEA is going to pump up their involment to get more money, and how well cooperation is between them and the Mexican government. Because that means more money for both the DEA and the Calderon administration.

  32. Guys, I read the story in the associated press that claims this was in fact an american operation. Move, I too havreinds in Nogales, Aqua Prieta and other places in mexico, just about everywhere. If you guys remember the recent story of richard cramer, he was a agent working with the trafficers in mexico. However, the American agents and other agencies, including the CIA are in Mexico full force. The ABL operation was corridinated by the US. In Mexico, it is everyday knowledge that these guys are I Mexico. The narcos try to corrupt these guys all the time. The opperation didn’t start the night ABL was murdered. It started more than a month prior, including the raid several nights before. ABL was a trapped rat. He was being hunted by everyone.(narcos , mex feds. U,S,) what number 26 was probably saying was what he was reading on the news. The meainstream media lies like hell, but the Gringos were in on this one deep. It started as a US operation, ending with Mexican Marine Comandos. Using kiki camerena as an example is sort of true, but has nothing to do with the present argument. I spent all day talking to ex associates in mexico. A lot of people are ceelabrating. A lot of people are very upset. This is gonna turn into a blood bath. The violence in mexico is about to hit an all time high. There hass been a shift in power in mexico, but people within the Beltran Leyva org. are not gonna let go easy, myabe even fighting withing. I rant and rave at people everyday about how dirty the “Gringos” are. They are present in mexico right now deep. But it appears they are doing El Chapos dirty work for him. We will just have to see how this plays out. Its ugly one way or the other.

  34. So you say the mainstream media lies a lot and then use an AP story to back up your claim?

Look Rabbit, everyone of you ex outlaws like to indulge and semi bragg about your past without fully admitting that you are doing exactly that, then try to hold some sort of authority of opinion. HINT TO ILEGAL. But what you are saying is nonsense, first no matter what your past was today you are an outsider like me. Which means stop saying “I GOT FREINDS THAT TOLD ME”. Nothing pisses me off more than someone brings up the past that is irrelevant to the current situation. Really Rabbit, so people are mad Arturo died and other people are happy? You don’t say. I would of never figured that out myself.

And another thing, why in the fook are you letting everybody know you are biting your tongue. If you don’t want to say something then don’t lead anybody on. Do you want attention Rabbit, is that it? You are acting like a girl that dresses like slut and then gets mad when a man stares at her. Either say something and get it out of your chest or don’t even bring it up.

Now on to this nonsense about the CIA. Yeah I know the CIA is in deep in Mexico, but since when is that news? The CIA has always been in Mexico like the KGB was when it existed. Mexico is neighbor to the Worlds most powerful and aggressive nation. And many countries contemplated using Mexico as a back door to the US. It should not be surprising or any unbelievable revelation that Mexico is crawling with spooks, from many different countries not just Russia and the US. I know the CIA had a hand in forming DFS, which a lot of narcos back then were members of, but you are missing the point. The CIA’s function is to gather intel, NOT PLAN MILITARY OPERATIONS, no matter what Hollywood says. Military operations are always planned and executed by men in the military and no one else. I will not believe that the US planned Arturo’s just because CIA spooks are in Mexico, that’s always a given. No matter what your background is it’s obvious you don’t know much about Mexico’s history, atleast not more than me. The last thing in the world I find interesting is that the CIA has many agents in Mexico, in my way of thinking its normal and makes sense.

The only thing the CIA could of done is gather intel on Mr. White Boots and pass on the info to the Mexican Navy, but that is as far as that would go. But a still find that argument weak let’s be honest Arturo was stupid, he only lasted 2 year without the other Sinaloans covering his back. Intel on Arturo was not hard to get. Epecially since the generals and high level federal police know the narco capos very well.

Not to mention that no one needed any special US help to catch Arturo, the guy was an idiot. Why the fook did he travel to Cuernavaca and San Pedro so often he became predictable, wasn’t Cuernavaca the same place he almost got caught about a year ago? How retarded can the guy be.

A lot of what you is vague, to me that is you trying stay relevant. And you are sour of being busted while so many crooked people are walking free, you have this victim hood about yourself but like most ex outlaws never want to admit it.

    [Reply]

  35. Sorry, bro. But I never told you I left thee business. I just told you I am retired. I only stepped out a couple years ago. I bit my tongue, cuz most of what you write is nonsense. Sorry this story ruffles your panties. What pisses you off really don’t mean shit to me. Atention, hell no. I don’t like the lames like you that speak bullshit. Everything you said was retoric, trying to see if you could get under my skin. All I did was tell you that who ever chris banano was, he was only commenting on was main stream media. It was misguided. I posted the story he obviously was commenting on. What, would you like to know who I talked to yesterday? Sorry.bro, but I am not out for the attention you are. I know the law would love to waste tax payer money and earn their riddiculouse salery, to come fook wwith me. What you looking for, to share a cell with me, or are you trying to put me there. Sometimes I wish I didn’t know anybod, but it is what it is. I personally am responsible for enriching myself off the border. The game has turned real bad. A lot of people I consider friends have died over it. But I am not in denial, there is no honor among thieves. Stop upsetting your self for nothing, homeboy, because I don’t give a shit if you get mad. You are running your mouth like a cop prying for info. Keep prying. Bet I don’t give you what your looking for. My uncle was murdered over this drug war, head cut off his shoulders. Am I giving you the information you want? Whatever authority you are acting like you are, really is no consequence to the story wrote here. And I do have the experience to back my words. Hudreds of million dolars worth. This story is a good topic. I wasntt involved in the gun fight that night, were you? If you were, stop bullshitting and tell the rest of us what really happened.

Folks are thinking a platoon devil dawgs running around, nah….if it was military then they’d be from the community dressed in civies maybe even latino in order to blend in.

My guess is Jhonny has already told “them”, and if you really were their “boy” or “homie” you wouldn’t be talking on here because you’d be back in the game, because when you had gotten out they would have had a nice sweet job waiting for you as a reward for keeping your mouth shut…BUT we all know now THAT didn’t happen.

  62. It’s only because you don’t know what you are talking about that I think is funny. I have been out of prison for several years. Plenty of people took care of me. I have my own family to do the things I need done. Leo died before I got out. The whole situation is a tragedy. The tragedy of things is what I want to tell people about. Leo was murdered over greed. My father died in prsion over greed. My uncle was murdered senselessly. I know more about this fooken lame ass drug war than you ever will, you cop loving SOB. I am not here for the reasons you think I am. But for people like Jonny, we have an understanding of this game that you never will. Obviously lives with the loss of Leo and family. I feel the same loss. I didn’t hate Leo like my father did. I admired all of them. So stop trying to have your meaningless voice heard. Mine is from experience. Yous is nothing but verbatem. All I’ve seen so far is that you feel you are a self pitying victim because the feds used a C.I. to put you away. So what. You knew the risk. You wanted the quick buck. What “Mike” said explains alot.

Nobody likes to get a speeding ticket, especially when it looks like the traffic cop overlooks other speeders but pulls you over. I’ve been there, and it sucks. Why did he pull ME over? Was it racial profiling? Were those other speeders his buddies? Am I being discriminated against? At the end of the day, I made the decision to drive 15 miles over the limit trying to make up time, and I got a ticket for it.

Try doing time in Mexico or some other 3rd world country if you think prison in the U.S. is tough. Try asking for P.C. there.

  76. There is a lot of truth in what you say. I didn’t understand the law when I was young. They forced me to understand. I got in real young. But no self pitty here. I would probably do it again, even if I knew then what I know now. Realise, I am ranting and raving only because the game has gotten so bad. There is plenty to go around, but greed has turned it all so damned filthy. You have dirty rats on one side and people klipping everyone on the other side. Where does it end? Killing 15,000 people a year sucks. That’s all I’m saying. Who ever “Mike” is, he is talking from a law enforcement background. They like hell. The ends justify the means to them. I rspect what you are saying. However, our government lies like hell, and the game has gotten real bad on all sides. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
