THE BORDER REPORT
UPDATE: A good friend in Sasabe, Ariz., tells me the Americans closed the port of entry there early citing bad weather …
That port is only open until 8 p.m., and they closed at about 7:30, she says, but the unexpected closure leaves about 20 people stranded in Sasabe tonight. It’s a town with a population of 25 people, it’s not like there’s a hotel for them to drive to and Tucson’s an hour away. I could be wrong but I’ve never heard of the Americans closing the port because of weather conditions; frankly, I wonder if it wasn’t because of the fight last night in Saric pero quien sabe.
Good morning. Lots going on today. We’ll start with Sonora. According to an FBI source earlier today:
First, the Sinaloa Federation finally moved in on El Gilo in the hills between Sáric and Tubutama last night, about 7 p.m. The Mexican military has seized ten armored vehicles. There are reports of 30 to 40 people dead, with Guzmán’s people having the upper hand. The Mexican Army is currently in the area. Apparently, there was an accident involving Mexican Army soldiers unrelated to the firefight, who were enroute to the Sáric/Tubutama area. Apparently several soldiers died in the accident.
Then “El Dos Mil” Francisco Hernández García, has started acting up again. There was a shootout between Sonora state police and Dos Mil in San Pedro, just east of Hermosillo. At least one cop is dead. Then there was another gunbattle yesterday at the Nogales, Sonora, airport between rival gangs. So far, two dead and another seriously injured.
So you have Dos Mil in central Sonora, the Sinaloans appear to have killed “El Gilo” Arnoldo del Cid Buelno, Hector Beltrán Leyva’s lieutenant in the hills just south of Arizona, and another fight at the airport. Gilo had some 300 men stocked in those towns. Two weeks ago, the Sinaloans tried to move on him but were defeated in an ambush that left some 20-30 gunmen dead.
Meanwhile, on the political front, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin appears to be carefully congratulating Mexico for killing Nacho Coronel Villarreal in a gunfight yesterday. Read what he has to say in that linked El Universal interview.
Ilegal, who first told me about la muerte de Nachito, found this bizarre story of a bounty on Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s head.
Finally, I thought YeYo lent some interesting insight into the discussion today (I am not spell-checking him though or I’ll be here all day … Kidding! I’m kidding!):
“Durango esta de luto por La muerte del “Cachas de diamante”..Holy shit seems super duper oficial he is dead and the worst is yet to come.I need a body and none has been brought to light as of yet, it might be premature to ask for it since this is breaking news but part of me still holds on to the fantasy of some kind of error..But all signs point to the worst.
–Chapo and Nacho had a rupture over a certain kidnaping of someones wife in Sinaloa whos sister is maried to one of Chapos imidiate relative..Remember that??But I doubt Chapo has anything to do with this because he would be a dead man via Mayo Zambada..Chapo has never been bigger than Nacho and Nacho has provided many of nice places to hide in the Sierra de Durango..Chapo aint no bigger than the next one so everybody quit griping his nuts cause he might be next..
–Juarez Cartel promised to stop the car bombs if a big Sinaloa fish was brought to justice last I heard, so it could be the goverment actualy doing their job since Cevallos hasnt apeared yet and Nacho was relased supposedly..
–Nacho has been beefing with Zetas from Durango all the way Jalisco..8 heads in Durango where Zetas trying to establish themselfs and make a move to the south..Confirmed that yesterday threw a friend who actualy lives in DGO city and saw one of the heads while driving around..
– Why not the Marina?? Sure Chapo has pull within the ranks of the Mexican Military but he isnt god. The military operates in Zonas and this was the 15 zona historicaly not Chapos but has been known to mingle with others like FM and CDG not to mention Lazca an Nacho as well..
–Nacho had been pegged since his meeting with El Mini then Mini was killed by nobody knows..
–He was suposedly captured then relased in exchange for Cevallos but nothing was ever mentioned or heard about Cevallos since..
–4 days ago members of Familia Michoacana where captured in Jalisco with a huge arsenal of weapons one of them being Valdemar Hernandez Barajas or (Servando Gomez Martinez..real name) the suposed son of La Tuta but later was found not to be..He was sent to advance into Jalisco but failed..
To sum it up you have to look at who would benifit from his downfall and that would NOT be the Sinaloans thats for sure..The only people that could benifit from this would be the Zetas, Familia Michoacana and the Mexican goverment..Nacho was also the king of meth and was competing for that tittle with the Familia but at the same time was beefing with Zetas..He was alos beefing with BLO over the death of his son and the horrific murder of Pepino but they dont have the pull that they used to have especialy in Jalisco or 15 Zona, so they seem to have lost a foe by way of another foe..The thing that gets me the most being from Durango is this is an oportunity for the ZZ’s to move in and also the Juarez cartel..I suspect they will bump into each other on there way in and the blood will flow threw Durango like it never has before..Not to metion the mess thats about go down in Jalisco..
He went down in a gun battle and lost he even took military personel with him on his way out. and I guess if you choose to live that lifstyle thats a hell of a way to go out, I rather be alive personaly but to each his own….Arriba Durango Raza!!”
Oh and one last point. I think the comments section needs to be structured differently so that the chismes and interesting details you all share, well, most of you, don’t get lost as we move from one story to the next. Any suggestions, email me.

they finally went with the locals plan…they sent some cars but the majority of people walked so the puntos wouldnt see them

does the fact that los Chapos took down el Gilo, means that they already reached for the office? which i presume it’s Nogales, i heard there are zetas in that town.

There is more, Michel. Three days ago, my friends in aqua prieta told me that Paredes was amking a power shift in Sonors. They sent their gunmam to the area where last night a gunbattle started. Word is from a very reliable sorce, that you are going to see cleaning house over the next coming week. And, last but not least, they are after dos mil’s ass. He is next from what I understand.

Yeyo you actually believe Nacho had a choice in the matter. Nope he was supposed to die, they don’t want people with his info on government corruption alive. The government staight Arturo Beltraned his ass.
Told you guys Chapo and Nacho were not seeing eye to eye, I kind of saw this coming. No, I don’t think that Chapo turned him in, it was no secret that Nacho lived in Zopopan Jalisco. I just think they went their seperatie ways, and Nacho overestimated his power, much like yeyo is doing.
Also many people have been blaming the Mexican federal government of not going after the Sinaloans. So then Nacho gets executed, the guy who went his seperate way, and the Mex feds say they are doing something against the Sinaloans.
The only thing that concerns me is if the Valencias and La Familia will stay peacefull or will they fight eachother for Jalisco.
“Juarez Cartel promised to stop the car bombs if a big Sinaloa fish was brought to justice last I heard”
To be very offensive I fine that theory to be retarded.

No Chapo is not bigger than Nacho, but Chapo, Mayo and all their allies sure are. Nacho was loosing it sense his kid got killed, he was getting stupid and sloppy, there was no reason for him to pick some of fights he was in lately.
“he was killed while fleeing the scene and on his way out took somone out..He almost made it.”
And why was he running. A guy that had the money Nacho did his first reaction would be to bribe his way out. Not come out shooting like some 19 year old doped up sicario. You thinking he wanted to fight it out tells me you have more respect for the guy than you should. Sure he was old school or what have you, but lately they guy was acting up.
Also La Linea can spray what ever little threat they want, that is not going to do a thing to move the soldiers into action. If they spay painted that tommorow a nuke will go of if they don’t catch Shorty are you going to take them seriously?
That Juarez put out a message like I’m not disputing, what I’m disputing is people actually taking it seriously.

TRUE in a way…But if you wanna talk loosing it..Why not take out Chapo for the heat he has brought down on the crew?? All the Juarez chit and Sonora chit in just the past year is alot more than what Nacho has done in his hole life..

Obviously he was ready to fight it out at any given time just as they all should be given the way they make their money..If he wasnt worth the respect that I give him please explain why he was free after being catured a few months back. Why wouldnt he be on the ofensive against the people who let him loose then all of sudden turned their back on him?.Would you just give in if you where in his shoes? Its obvious they wanted him dead but I dont think the Sinaloans wanted it..I think the goverment wanted more because of what he knew..That..Or his oposition who has been known to work with 15th zona..Look I dont know what happened and neither do you but Sinaloa has alot to loose in his capture or death think Durango and Jalisco and how enemys of the Sinaloans are pushing to take those plazas..Famila Michoacana might even have a hand on this given that he was their main competition not only in the meth trade but in getting in good graces financialy with the Sinaloans.Familia Michoacan has gotten heat latley because they seem to be getting that so called Calderon protection all of a sudden. If Chapo and Mayo wanted him dead they knew where he was all they had to do was send their people and play it off as if it was some type of meeting given that they are compadres and what have you..

“All the Juarez chit and Sonora chit in just the past year is alot more than what Nacho has done in his hole life..”
In Sonora they had to do something or Arturo and the Zetas would of closed that up for the Sinaloans. Arturo picked that fight with the Sinaloans and he decided the go and partner up with the Zetas. To me that excuse they say about Chapo turning in Mochomo is BS. Z’s and BLO wanted Sonora so their was no other option but war.
In Juarez, the very same people that worked for JL wanted Chapo to come and back them up. Nobody could stand JL, and even if Juarez is turining into Somalia the Sinaloans are still passing their loads tax free. Which is what they wanted to begin with. Take away the emotion that comes from all the sufering caused by the dead, make a cold judgment and you will see that the Sinaloans are getting what they want out of that war with Juarez. When La Linea made those bomb threats to me it made them look even weaker, that’s a move only the desperate would make.
“Obviously he was ready to fight it out at any given time just as they all should be given the way they make their money..If he wasnt worth the respect that I give him please explain why he was free after being catured a few months back. Why wouldnt he be on the ofensive against the people who let him loose then all of sudden turned their back on him?.Would you just give in if you where in his shoes?”
If I was in his shoes I would of got the hell out of Jalisco the first time they caught me there. Same mistake Arturo made. What do you mean ready to fight, the guy was almost in his 60s and used to living a life of luxury, if he was in fear of being sent to prison or being killed on purpose by the Army he would of not been hiding in A DAMN MANSION.
And you don’t even know if that rumor about Nacho getting caught and released is true. But I must say, it probably happens more ofen than what you and I think. So to me even if they did get him around the time the rumor started then released him, it did not shake him enough for him to leave Jalisco. Being “caught” then let go is probably normal for him. I repeat, with Nacho’s money and power his first reaction would be to bribe his way out.
“Its obvious they wanted him dead but I dont think the Sinaloans wanted it..I think the goverment wanted more because of what he knew..That..Or his oposition who has been known to work with 15th zona..Look I dont know what happened and neither do you but Sinaloa has alot to loose in his capture or death think Durango and Jalisco and how enemys of the Sinaloans are pushing to take those plazas”
What did Sinaloa loose if Nacho already wanted start his own thing, which I believe he did, I’ve said this months ago that Nacho and Shorty are not seeing eye to eye. Nacho could of turned into another Arturo given the time. I honestly in a business sense think the Sinaloas are indeferent to Nacho’s assasination, personally some people from Sinaloa may feel bad for Nacho but that’s about it. As for the Durango plaza is really not that important because it’s surround by land, it’s flakey as hell, and a whole bunch of other reasons.
Now Jalisco thats an important place to control, but one thing I think you are messing in your assement of Jalisco is the Valencias. The Valencias have history out there in Jalisco, but people tend to overlook them. And my feeling is a big part of the tension between the Chapo and Nacho is the Valencias. The Valencias have been working with Chapo for awhile, he backed them up in Michoacan when the they were going up against La Familia who back them were in with the Zetas, to me the Shorty is tight with that Family. And who picked a fight with the Valencias? Nacho did. Today La Familia and the Valencias are at peace with each other for the simple fact that La Familia woke the Fvck up and started killing Zetas instead of helping them out. Which brings me to my little theory, I think it’s good for the Sinaloans that Zetas have some presence in Jalisco because that would probably bring the LFM and the Valencias together instead of them turning on each other. If what’s left of the Valencians and the La Familia come together in Jalisco, and they do the Zetas what they did to them in Michoacan, it might turn out good for the Sinaloans in a weird way. Of course that is the best case senerio and it might turn into a big ass war zone like what after what happened when ABL died.
“Famila Michoacana might even have a hand on this given that he was their main competition not only in the meth trade but in getting in good graces financialy with the Sinaloans.Familia Michoacan has gotten heat latley because they seem to be getting that so called Calderon protection all of a sudden”
I don’t think LFM, the Valencias, Sinaloans, Hector, or Zetas had a hand in what happened to Nacho. EVERYONE knew he stayed in Zopopan Jalisco, that was no big secret. I don’t know exactly why the govenment decided to take him out, I can only speculate, but to me the government did this on it’s own.
And I don’t know what you mean the LFM if getting protection from Calderon. Two things make LFM stand out, they are the only ones to successfully get rid of the Zetas from their state, and they go at it hard againgst the Federales. Whay protection do you speak, if that were the case La Familia would not of ambush the Federales like they did in Zitacuaro.
“If Chapo and Mayo wanted him dead they knew where he was all they had to do was send their people and play it off as if it was some type of meeting given that they are compadres and what have you..”
A meeting? I think you have been wathing to much Godfather.
Don’t forget to drop the gun.

The question is the why in all this. I think we can all agree there was more to this killing than merely an intent to arrest Nacho.
When I first reported on his arrest last May, the guys I got it from, border law enforcement, are never wrong. Some are, yes. But not these. If they say it happened, it happened.
And then he was freed; or he died then or he died now, we don’t know. But returning to the initial question, why? What motive did they have to do him.

He was very polite and said “Don’t worry, there’s alot more of us here.”I didn’t dare tell him that I had been married to someone whose brother was one of the old time king pins in AP. He was killed in 2004. It’s sad to see the direction this business has taken. I still can’t believe all the people I knew. who have since been killed. With all the commotion these cartels have kicked up in the last few years, it only tears them down faster. I am not saying that drug trafficing is right, it’s just not going to go away. It use to be ,go after the one that did you wrong, but killing them was not always the way of dealing with them. They never went after the kids or families. When Chapo’s son was killed I felt bad for his family. No one should have to bury a child because of who they are.

Check this information from people in Guadalajara from the same neighborhood where Nacho went down:

Yeah in these times everything goes now, no more rules are being followed. But I’m still surprised at 7 being there when they have shed blood among each other. I heard there was some sort of cease fire among them with the hopes of aligning themselves together again after El Barbas was killed. This was earlier this year and word going around Culiacan but then the killings started all over again shortly thereafter.
What do you know about Mochomo apparently trying to get Barbas to understand that Chapo did not turn him in?

That’s what I heard as well that Arturo would not listen to Alfredo one bit and shit went too far for them to align themselves thereafter. Apparently Arturo thought that the alliance with the Zetas was going to help him eliminate both Chapo and Mayo. What would have been scary is if the Zetas would have aligned themselves with the Sinaloa Federation….

So let me get this straight Chapo, 7, Villegas, and Nacho spent the night under the same roof..Along with milatary personel who are on Nacho’s payroll, left then came back and found Nacho already dead..Then they sacraficed him because they where being presured by the goverment..Complete caca-may-me bullchit..Everyone wants to pin it on Chapo because its the easy way out and a quick explanation..But I beg to differ..Tell me one gain they would have in doing in Nacho..

Bro, every one needs to step back and look at this again. Even if Nacho wanted to be on his own, there is way more to this whole thing. It will eventually come out. There has been a lot of speculation here. But something still does not make sense. Especially him being at home ill protected. Please, I don’t by it. This is an old school cat. There is way more that we have not heard yet.

My cousin from GDL has been sending me clips of all kinds of information being floated out there by different people that “apparently” witnessed the events unfolding. What’s weird is that Nachos residences in GDL were well known and all of a sudden they decided to take him down. I don’t know how truth these statements are but hey it’s better that those damn novelas on TV!

I have a question for El Doble and others: If the residences of Nacho were well known, is that true of other bigwigs like La Barbie? Or, was Nacho sloppy with his secrecy? It seems like he was taking lots of security precautions so it doesn’t seem like he was. If Nacho wasn’t sloppy, then that means his protection from authorities had been compromised.
Any thoughts?

Everyone in GDL knew where he lived and partied but was untouchable since he had the state under his control through your occasional bribes and the lack of violence. Pretty much they would not bother him since he would stay away from all the major killings that were occurring in other parts of the country. The guy partied but was more low key about it and not that extravagant from what I’ve been told.

After making a huge tactical error a couple of weeks ago when they move in on Gilo, the federation got it right this time.
This is how I think it played out. The Gilos heard of Nacho’s death and began a premature celebration and let their guard down. Using the anger from the death of Nacho the forces moved in and cleaned house.

Please if you know the actual guy who sells the shit and wants to talk. Please write to my email

There’s a thing called the internet that has all the information you’re requesting. There is no need to have someone interviewed anymore with countless documentaries out there already. Shit just turn on the mexican news and you can write a god damn thesis about the border and drug trafficking.

Question: Is Dos Mil the Beltra Leyvas’s? Who is he working for? What is the story with him? It seems he has switched alliances numerous times. There is a lot going on now, it’s almost impossible to keep it all together.
Nacho being killed
El Gilo/Sinaloa in Sonora
CDG/Zetas in Tampulias
Juarez
It’s a shame how few people are actually informed on this stuff, because it is important history that will be looked back upon, how I don’t know, but it’s not just drug cartels killing people in Mexcio like US would have you believe.

The dos mil thing is not complicated. They say 2K works for the gulf boys, but all of them had ties to arturo beltran. Raul para, 2k, the beltran outfit, were all in bed together. By all accounts, 2k is a nasty dude. But he acts like he’s a dirty AFI agent, and has been known to wear an AFI uniform. He has been hired out to carry out several conract hits, most notably Leo Paredes. He has a lot of very powerful enemies. But I have always said that he has backing by higher ups in Sonoran Government. What is really surprising is so do the Walls. But they are bitter enemies with 2K. But as you will see, the walls are heping clean house in Sonora. What’s left of the beltranes in Sonora just got mopped up with a huge help from the walls. Word on the street is that they are nocking off any last people who were tied to Raul Para, AKA BLO. We will just have to see what’s next. But recently 2K’s guy in AP was taken out by the walls. We will see who prevails. I never thought that the Paredes would last this long. But they are on top right now.
