The real problem down south is corruption at levels of the mexican government and the greed of the cartels wanting to control all corridors to smuggle the drugs. Lets not forget that all cartels have had their own corridor to smuggle drugs and the violence had been minimal at best. There's blame to go around on both sides but the real problem was created by all the greedy bastards that have allowed it to get to the point that's out of control and they have no idea how to stop it now.
