THE BORDER REPORT
The dynamics of this arrest are interesting. But is he important? Other than being the sole (known) Anglo, is Edgar “La Barbie” Valdez Villarreal as important a catch as the Mexican government and the American federal agencies will make him out to be?
Resilient, yes he was, on the move since the late 1990s, indicted on a $3 million pot trafficking charge out of federal court in Louisiana in 2003, I believe. He and Arturo were credited with helping Joaquin El Chapo Guzman recover from a bout of alcoholism following the Puente Grande escape of 2001. By 2006, he’d lost Nuevo Laredo to the Gulf Cartel, and by 2008, he and Beltran had gone to war with the Sinaloa Federation. All told, a decade running before his arrest today in Morelos.
Now, as a Tejano, is the State Department going to abide by usual protocols, and visit him in jail to ensure his rights as an American citizen are being honored by the Mexicans? Will he be prosecuted in the U.S. first on those 2003 charges or face trial in Mexico? Or is he a dual citizen (I doubt he’s a dual citizen, he started working so early in life, he probably didn’t even have time to get a U.S. passport, let alone a Mexican one.)
I wish the Mexicans had come up with the trading cards the Americans used on al-Qaeda, post-9/11; I’m losing track. It started with Arturo Beltran Leyva in Cuernavaca. Then a month later, Teodoro Garcia Simental, El Teo, in Tijuana. Next up was Nacho, yeah?

I know of a few guys in Louisiana who still move shit from Texas to Atlanta and other places…

*21 de agosto. Un grupo de hombres incendiaron una casa en la colonia Lomas de San Antón, en Cuernavaca. En la puerta del domicilio fue dejado un narcomensaje firmado por el Cártel del Pacífico Sur (CPS) y dirigido a quienes apoyaran a la Barbie.
*22 de agosto. Cuatro hombres fueron decapitados y colgados de un puente sobre una autopista de Cuernavaca. Cerca del puente, se encontró un mensaje escrito sobre cartulina donde se señalaba a las víctimas como colaboradores del capo Edgar Valdez Villarreal.
* 30 de agosto. Se da a conocer la detención del narcotraficante.

No I don’t give him credit. He did not earn that position Arputo gave him. I have always said he went up to damn fast for his homo ass to actually deserve what he got. I am not just saying he and Arputo were gay lovers just to piss off ilegal, I really do believe it. That’s the only way it makes sense to me. The guy was always a complete failure in everything he did. Arputo got nothing but negativity with that loser on his crew. The guy was always known for being a miserable screw up.

Its easier to tear something down than to really understand it. Arturo was not gay. Ask yourself this questions.
Why would Arturo hire Edgar in the first place? You have a American born person to work the Texas branch. Its almost like having a white friend to talk to the cops when you get pulled over. He understood both languages and could comunicate on both sides of the border. When things started to heat up for him in Texas he was pulled into mexico for protection which eventually evolved into a war with the Gulf. The bottom line is this. Being American born ment that he could get into better markets than anyone that was mexican born. Even if his war to take out the Z was unsuccessful his distribution network wasnt. I am sure that this was one of the biggest factors in having Arturo break away from the federation because he had the distribution network in the US. Also, being local to the area ment that Arturo didnt have to send him soldiers to fight his was, Edgar was recruiting locally. After Arturo’s death, Edgar was able to stay in business, Why? He had the connections in Columbia and the distribution network in the US. All he needed was his own route which he had been trying to carve out for himself.

The biggest factor in Arputo’s break away in my opinion is his alliance with the Zetas. I believe that because the original Zetas, the ones that were actually military not todays losers, embarrassed the hell out of Arputo’s security forces. The Og Z’s steped all over his territories and did what they wanted with them. So what does Arputo do, he forms an truce with the Z’s and his punk ass divides his own territories with the Z’s. So Arputo being the idiot that he is, thinks hey if the Zetas kicked my ass all over the place they could probably do the same to the rest of the Federation. WRONG.
And Arputo did have to send soldiers in Nuevo Laredo to help out. A lot of people tried helping Barbie to win NL, in his supposed home turf. The guy proved to be useless.
Barbie’s dope dealing was nothing special when he was in the US side, he was typical person in the drug business. He was regional at best, he did not have nation wide distribution. Arturo in no way could form a cartel with the middle level shit Barbie had going on, the man was nothing out of the ordinary. Arturo just happened to have a crush on him. The Arputo and Barbie business relationship was one sided, Arputo was GIVING and Barbie was taking.

Maybe the reason he moved up in the ladder was because of his past even before he was getting treated Zetas..Who knows.
He was Donisio Romans aka El Chachos number one guy whom worked directly with Chapo and was in charge of distribution in the Laredo area until he was cought here in the Midwest Springfield, Miruraa to be exact..El Chacho was killed in 2002..After his gig in the Midwest ended and he focused his work in the Laredo- San Antonio- Houston area working for another main distributer for the Sinaloenses and also a friend of his Javier Martinez Perez whom introduced him to Arturo when he was workin the Nuevo Leon area fro the Juarez cartel at the time.
The only people who can say if he deserved it are the ones who put him in the position..He had to be moving a significant amount of weight in order to actually get to meet people higher up in the ladder..
Sometimes its not what you do that gets you places its how you carry yourself in certain scenerios..Carisma, Personality Willingness, theres alot of things that can be done and one of the things that people look for is not getting down on yourself even after failing miserably and continuing to fight with the same thirsts as the first battle..Its not always a recipie for sucess..LOL.
Cause when Arturo was surrounded he called Barbie ansd Barbie refused to send re enforcements to get him out of there..Advising Arturo insted to turn himself in,which more than likely sent him into a rage and got his dumb as killed.

Compared to earlier photos, there’s something about his nose and eyes that looks different from earlier photographs.
Looks like he’s been well fed; his face is more round than it used to be…but his nose seems to be more prominent.

Well, this was a long time coming, for the past 6 months anyone with any knowledge of all this was predicting his fall, his lieutenants and sicario’s were getting taken down like once a month, and the war with Hector Beltran just exposed him more, I’d guess if he stayed under El H, he would still be free, but the only/first US born ‘kingpin’, (he really just led a faction of a frayed organization) wasn’t going to last long. I don’t know why some people push for the top tier spots, Barbie could have disappeared into southern Mexico, controlling shipments north, avoided the war, but he wanted to be king for a day. His appearance does look a lot different, but usually they do, because of the obscurity and age of the mugshots, most likely. It’s possible he got surgery, he had a lot of enemies, and was making more. The picture is kinda crazy though, he almost looks like a frat boy.
I’d guess El H and El Grande are pouring shots right now, partying like Tijuana after Muletas and Teo went down.

I am sure Edgar cut a deal before his capture. No gun fight says a lot .He feared being killed so he took the easy way out. As far as who he talks about, I don’t think it will pertain to Chapo, but he will out the Beltran assc. and others.

There aren’t always gunfights, in fact there might be more ‘easy arrests’ then gunfights.

he is singing way faster than i thought he would….11 personas vinculadas con La Barbie, fueron capturadas por la policía colombiana, esto en n operaciones realizadas en cinco ciudades del país, informaron hoy las autoridades en un comunicado.
La investigación para capturar a los enlaces de Edgar Valdez Villareal en Colombia duró más de 18 meses y permitió la detención de 11 personas en las ciudades de Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Buenaventura y Pereira.
En esa última ciudad del centro-oeste de Colombia se detuvo al ciudadano mexicano Julio César Piña Soberanís, alias Julio, emisario de Valdez Villarreal y requerido en extradición.
La Policía capturó simultáneamente en un apartamento en el norte de Bogotá a Denis Alvarino Gómez, alias El Negrito, enlace de Luis Carlos Neiva, alias Pacheco, cabecilla del frente 30 de la guerrilla de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC).
La investigación permitió determinar que los capturados enviaron varios cargamentos de alucinógenos hacia Costa Rica y de ahí a México desde el año 2003.
También que enviaban un promedio de tres toneladas de cocaína mensuales hacia Centroamérica, “en la modalidad de camuflaje, lanchas rápidas y buques cargueros”, agregó el comunicado de la Policía.
La “Operación Golfo” comenzó hace 18 meses, en el momento en que se logró la captura en Costa Rica de Walberto Salazar Cuero, alias Guavita, responsable de recibir los alijos de cocaína de las FARC provenientes de Panamá.
Asimismo, se logró establecer que la droga salía de laboratorios controlados por la guerrilla en Bahía Solano, departamento de Chocó, y Buenaventura (suroeste), Valle del Cauca, donde bajo la supervisión de alias “El Negrito” se efectuaban los embarques con destino hacia la organización de La Barbie .
La Barbie era uno de los narcotraficantes más buscados en el mundo hasta ayer, cuando fue detenido gracias a un trabajo de inteligencia que duró más de un año y se extendió por todo México.
El que fuera jefe de sicarios del cartel de los Beltrán Leyva y líder ahora de una rebelión interna para hacerse con el control de la organización fue capturado la tarde del lunes en el estado de México, próximo a la capital.
Por Valdez Villareal, originario de Laredo (Texas, Estados Unidos), el gobierno mexicano ofrecía 30 millones de pesos.

Fernando Sanchez Arellano, who according to this site http://www.myspace.com/thecartelreport, days are numbered. I don’t know how much credibility is there though, also Osiel Cardenas brother, Vicente Carillo Fuentes, Hector Beltran, theres a few more.
The guy that runs that site is always reporting about future DEA operations, a few have been correct, but don’t know.

Yeah, i check the site, when I run out of everything else, but a lot is just people playing around, and paying homage to their favorite traffickers. A few months ago the guy was saying the Z’s had officially allied with CAF, and were in Tijuana, I can say that’s extremely unlikely. He also claimed the politician Diego Cevallos had been kidnapped in order to arrange a reduce sentence for Vicente Zambada, which I highly doubt.

It always surprises me the way criminals in Mexico, basically the narcos give interviews to the press when arrested, I like it, so much more informative then the US, something happens, you read a news brief, and never or rarely any follow up or in depth coverage.
On another note, Barbie is def. nervous, and not ‘happy about being arrested’, look how much he’s sweating and wiping his brow, staring at the ground.

He tries to play it off by smiling, but his up-bringing in the U.S. is what is making him tear up(check out his Mom’s house in that U.S. television report. Its a nice place.
