A Reporter Disappears

THE BORDER REPORT
A reporter for a Mexican newspaper was kidnapped late last night in Agua Prieta; though it's not clear whether the guy was lifted for his journalism or other reasons.
Saul Martinez Ortega, a reporter for the semi-monthly Interdiario was being chased by two, maybe more, men carrying AK-47s.
He jumped a curb into the police station and ran in looking for help just after midnight; the two kidnappers running in behind him.
The lone, unarmed police officer in the station ran away, presumably to look for help. At that point Martinez was kidnapped.
But state police say they found 230 grams of uncut cocaine and 27 9-mm rounds in his 1995 black Chevy Suburban.
The car did not have license plates and I hate to say it, but that's a pretty nice ride for a Mexican reporter.
That makes 33 reporters kidnapped and murdered in Mexico since 2000 when Pres. Vicente Fox entered office. I believe that's the third reporter since Pres. Felipe Calderon came into office last January.
I'll have more on this story later today.
Take care y cuidense.
