THE BORDER REPORT

El Imparcial newspaper is reporting that Sonoran state police arrested a 22 year old Mexicali resident in connection with the killing of a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Jesús Navarro Montes, 22, was arrested in Ciudád Obregón as he left his uncle's house, the paper reports. The arrest happened after the Mexican army raided three houses of a local drug lord in Mexicali. I presume that the drug lord in question is Macedonio Guerrero whom, I understand, is being questioned by U.S. authorities. Navarro is accused in connection with the killing of Luis Aguilar, a 32-year-old Border Patrol agent from the Yuma Sector. Aguilar was struck by a fleeing vehicle as he was trying to lay down a spike strip last Saturday morning.
