THE BORDER REPORT
Okay, so it looks like I was off by a few weeks. It was last fall that I was first told that the chief of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Arizona was going to resign.
The Phoenix New Times started hearing the same thing last month and this morning, The Arizona Republic is reporting that Alonzo Peña is leaving the chaos of immigration enforcement in Arizona for a quieter, more reasoned place – Mexico City.
Good luck to you Peña; your agency has been screwed by Customs and Border Protection since you all merged in 2003 under Homeland, but that's not your fault. Your agents liked you and for federal agents to like their boss, you must have done something right by them.
