If you want me to get back to border news, please tell your legislators in Phoenix to quit acting up. Here's the latest. The Arizona Daily Star reports that Tempe, Ariz., Democrat Ed Ableser wants to make hybrid cars louder so that the blind can hear them coming. Ableser is pushing legislation requiring all hybrid car owners to add an artificial noise-maker to their cars and is even calling for the law to be retroactive so that it would apply to current hybrid owners. This is the same Democrat who last year tried to do away with mudflaps showing that "obscene" naked woman on so many Arizona trucks. His justification then was that he'd been contacted by parents whose children had asked them to explain why the mudflap woman with a 24-inch waist was carrying a pair of 38DDs. Exactly how much are we paying these people? And do they have dayjobs or do they while away their time dreaming up scenarios to apply legislation to? -- Michel Marizco
