There was a very ... interesting suicide attempt last night in State Prison Two, in Nogales, Sonora. I'm still working on the details but preliminary information suggests this Castro/Enriquez figure arrested last week. Hubo un intento de suicido muy interesante en el CERESO Dos de Nogales, Sonora, anoche. No la tengo confirmado todavía per se sugiere que fue el Hugo Castro/Wilfrido Enriquez personaje quien fue detenido la semana pasada. THE BORDER REPORT
It was a fine morning to shoot, the sun rising golden over Nogales, Sonora. My guy and I were walking up a steep hill to gather some dawn shots along the green border wall when he stepped on a piece of plywood covered in soil that nearly gave way. His discovery set off a series of events that took up the rest of our Saturday and found us crawling beneath the U.S.-Mexico border and added a drug tunneler's hacksaw to my collection of narco-souvenirs. It didn't take long for Mexican city cops to wander over; I guess we sparked their interest when we started poking our heads (and cameras) into the tunnel.
Rolling Gunfight

NOGALES, SONORA – I guess that State Department travel advisory from last week proved topical, three innocents were wounded in today's gunfight. Police took casualties as well, one, a bullet to the head and two more were wounded by grenade shrapnel.
Police say the gunfight started when cops had stopped a car in front of the Unidad Deportiva, heading south out of town. A second carload of gunmen got the jump on those cops, then retreated behind a wall and opened fire again.
Gunfight Still Rolling

The gunfight's still rolling in some areas, sporadic gunfire is being reported south of Nogales near Bellotas ranch.
I'll be posting more information once I hit the ground so check back.
